A flat-woven Turkish cotton wrap with fringed ends, made for the hammam and now used at the beach, after the bath and for travel. In the US it is usually called a Turkish towel.

What size is a VivaMaison peshtemal?

One size for all five: 35 × 71 in (90 × 180 cm), one piece per pack.

Is a peshtemal absorbent enough to use as a bath towel?

Yes. Flat-woven Turkish cotton absorbs well for its weight and dries much faster than a thick terry towel. It holds less water in total than terry, so for long hair you may want a hand towel too. See Turkish Towel vs. Regular Towel.

How do I wash a peshtemal?

Machine wash cold with similar colors, tumble dry low or line dry, and skip bleach. Do not use fabric softener: it coats the fibers and reduces absorbency. The cotton softens with every wash.

Is a peshtemal good for the beach and travel?

Yes. It is light (the muslin striped peshtemal weighs 363 grams), folds small, dries quickly, and sand shakes off the flat weave.

Where are the peshtemals made and are they certified?

They are woven from 100% Turkish cotton in Denizli, Turkey. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifies that the product meets the standard's limit values for harmful substances.
