Luxury Striped Turkish Cotton Peshtemal Towel
DetailsHandwoven Turkish cotton · OEKO-TEX® Standard 100
A peshtemal is a flat-woven Turkish cotton wrap used in the hammam, at the beach and as a bath towel. This pinstriped peshtemal is handwoven in Denizli, Turkey, from long-staple Aegean cotton, with fine pinstripes on a cream ground, a wide colored band along both long edges and fringe on the short edges. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.
The Yarn Difference
What sets this peshtemal apart is the yarn. We use a slightly heavier, more densely spun long-staple Turkish cotton that gives this peshtemal more body, more softness, and more presence than our standard peshtemal. It's still lightweight and quick-drying — it's still a true peshtemal — but every thread feels just a little more indulgent.
"A luxury peshtemal should feel like silk on your skin but dry like cotton. That balance is the art of Denizli weaving — and it's what we've been perfecting for generations."
— Third-Generation Weaver, Denizli

Why Turkish Cotton Is Worth It
Regular cotton has short fibers (1-1.5 cm). Long-staple Turkish cotton has fibers 3-4 cm long. Longer fibers mean:
- Stronger yarn (less breakage)
- Softer feel (fewer rough ends)
- Better absorbency (more surface area)
- Longer lifespan (resists pilling)
- Improves with age (softens, doesn't weaken)

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this peshtemal different from your standard peshtemal?
The yarn. It is woven from a slightly heavier, more densely spun long-staple Turkish cotton, which gives it more body and a softer hand feel; the flat weave and the fringed short edges are the same.
What size is this peshtemal?
One size: 35 × 71 in (90 × 180 cm), one piece per pack. It is large enough to wrap around the body after the bath or at the beach and folds flat for travel.
What is the difference between a peshtemal and a towel?
A peshtemal is flat-woven with no terry loops, so it is thinner and lighter than a terry towel, dries faster and packs flat. It is used in the hammam, at the beach and as a bath towel.
Is it still lightweight?
Yes. It is slightly more substantial than our standard peshtemal but still much lighter than a terry bath towel, dries quickly and packs flat for travel.
Will the stripes fade?
The stripes are woven in with colored yarns rather than printed on the surface, so they are part of the fabric. Wash cold with similar colors to keep them bright.
How absorbent is it?
It absorbs well for its weight. The flat-woven long-staple Turkish cotton takes up water and then dries faster than a thick terry towel, which makes it practical for the bath, the beach and travel.
