Muslin curtains are made from cotton gauze, an open weave that softens daylight instead of blocking it. Our 2-layer muslin panel doubles the gauze at 200 GSM for more privacy while the room stays bright. The stonewashed panel is a woven cotton with a washed finish that gives a relaxed, lightly wrinkled drape.
Compare the Collection
| Panel | Fabric | Colors | Hanging styles |
|---|---|---|---|

How to Choose
- Light: muslin filters sunlight into a soft glow; neither panel is a blackout curtain.
- Width: panels come 43 in (110 cm) or 55 in (140 cm) wide and are sold singly, so most windows need two.
- Length: 18 lengths run from 24 in café curtains to 130 in for tall windows; order muslin about 2 inches longer to allow for the first wash.
- Hanging: rod pocket for a classic gathered look, tab top for a casual look, tie top for a softer one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are muslin curtains see-through?
Single-layer gauze is quite sheer. Our 2-layer muslin panel is light-filtering: it gives daytime privacy and hides the rod shadow, but it does not darken the room.
What is the difference between muslin and stonewashed cotton curtains?
Muslin is an open gauze weave that glows when backlit. Stonewashed cotton is a denser woven fabric with a washed, slightly rumpled texture.
What size curtain panel do I need?
For fullness, the combined panel width should be about 1.5 to 2 times your window width. Measure from the rod to where you want the hem to fall, and add 2 inches for muslin.
Do muslin curtains shrink?
Muslin relaxes by about 1 to 2 inches after the first wash, which is why we suggest ordering two inches longer. Wash at up to 40°C (104°F) with similar colors.
Where are the curtains made and are they certified?
Both panels are handwoven in Denizli, Turkey, from Turkish cotton. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifies that the product meets the standard's limit values for harmful substances.
Pair your windows with bedroom textiles, muslin blankets or a muslin duvet cover in the same airy fabric.
Every VivaMaison panel is handwoven in Denizli, where weaving has 2,500 years of heritage, by women weavers across three generations.
